ARSENAL have lined up Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon as their replacement for Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.

And TyC Sports claim Arsene Wenger is prepared to trigger his release clause within the next few hours as they prepare for life without the Chile international.

Pavon has been linked with the Gunners in recent weeks but initial reports suggested Wenger was holding for a summer deal.

Boca would prefer to keep hold of the attacker as their Copa Libertadores campaign is about to get underway.

But with Sanchez closing in on a move to Manchester City, the press in Argentina now say Wenger could be willing to pay the £27m release clause to bring the 21-year-old to the Premier League.

Sanchez has been a fan favourite at the Emirates since his £38m arrival from Barcelona in 2014.

His departure will leave a huge void at the club and the North London side have since been linked with a number of players including the likes of Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez.

Wenger is concerned Pavon’s value may soar if he performs well at the World Cup in Russia which has prompted the Arsenal boss to make his move this month.

Pavon joined Boca Juniors in 2014 before spending the first half of the season on loan at CA Colon.

The Argentina international has been in fine form this term scoring three goals and assisting six others in 12 league appearances.
