Arsenal are interested to buy a centre back, and have been looking at Adil Rami, the Valencia centre back. According to Marca, Valencia have valued the French international, who has been capped 25 times by his country, at £7.7 million and will not budge from their valuation.
Valencia failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, and will look to sell some players, including striker Roberto Soldado (who is being targeted by Tottenham). Also, Marca reports that Rami is unhappy at Valencia and wants a move, which coupled with financial problems, will force Valencia to accept a lower bid than their valuation.
Arsenal have been looking for a signing, and were beaten by Napoli in pursuit of their principal transfer target, Gonzalo Higuain, who completed his medical at Napoli on Wednesday, along with Liverpool keeper, Pepe Reina.
The Gunners are in a need of a centre back, since they have only three recognised centre backs, with Spanish youngster, Ignasi Miquel, the fourth centre-back. Defensive injuries have plagued Arsenal, and the skipper, Thomas Vermaelen is feared to be out of action for three months, leaving Arsenal only two recognised centre backs, the lack of adequate cover in the centre of defence has seen Sagna playing in central defensive in preseason games.
