Reports in the Italian media are stating Arsenal are readying a bid for highly-rated Italian Marco Verratti.
The PSG midfielder had a remarkable campaign for the Parisian club as they stormed to the Ligue 1 title and Wenger wants to try to lure him to Arsenal in the hope he can help Arsenal do the same in the Premier League.
The player only recently penned a one-year extension with the club but that was after major discussion following his discontent at the club. After learning of Arsenal’s interest, manager Laurent Blanc has indicated he would be willing to let the midfielder leave for the right price.
The 20-year old is also open for a move away and discussions are set to take place between the Gunners and the player’s representatives over a possible five-year deal worth between £70,000-100,000-a-week.
Veratti’s arrival would take the attacking burden off of Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere and would give the club another midfield option as they look to get the most out of their squad.
Arsenal have seen many of their targets lost this summer and will hope Verratti will not be another name added to that list as the club start to focus on other transfers other than their pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.
