With Mkhitaryan looking like off to Manchester United, reports from the German media today are claiming Arsenal have moved in for Wolfsburg’s Julian Draxler and as a matter of fact, the deal is closing to completion. According to the reports, Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger has told directors of Wolfsburg that he is ready to pay the full 30 million valuation of the player.
This report if true means Arsenal will probably be dropping the interest in Mario Gotze unless of course Wenger sees Draxler as a striker and intends to bring in Mario Gotze as a right winger or a back up for Mesut Ozil.
The signing of Draxler, if it happens, will be a massive boost to the current Arsenal team. And could be the most sensible thing to do now that we are increasingly getting out of options for a striker. I personally do not see Wenger playing £45 million for Lukaku for instead but £30 million for Draxler will make a lot sense.
The good thing is, if United signs Mkhitaryan which is looking likely now, we will have little to no competition for Draxler.
