The rumour mill is working and Arsenal have been linked with a move for Valencia center back Adil Rami after the French defender was placed on transfer owing to his overt criticism of the Los Che manager. According to Daily Express, the Frenchman lashed out at the Valencia manager,
“In the dressing room there is only confusion since we lost [Roberto] Soldado, [Alberto] Costa and [David] Albelda,”
“Djukic doesn’t say things to your face.”
The 27-year-old has been exiled by the club and has not only been fined but also transfer-listed by Los Che. He was a target for City in the summer but the Eastlands’ outfit baulked at the 8million Pounds price tag and went for Malaga’s center back Demechelis but the asking price could drop after he has been identified as a disruptive influence in the dressing room.
He might be available but does Arsenal need him? I don’t think so. We currently have 3 experienced center backs in Mertesacker, Koscielny and Vermaelen with Sagna been able to play there too in case of emergency. Vermaelen is finding it difficult to break into the first 11, adding Rami who is known for his outspokenness could disrupt the peace and harmony in the dressing room. Arsenal are doing well at the moment and it is down to the bond that currently exist amongst the players. We don’t need someone to put a sword through it.
Arsenal don’t need a new center back. What we need is a striker that would complement Giroud upfront. The acquisition of another center back could kill Vermaelen’s morale as he would see breaking into the first 11 a tougher proposition. 3 center backs are easier managed that 4 that includes a volatile one.
