Julio Cesar has been told to sort out his future or risk being dropped for Brazil. Luiz Felipe Scolari has ordered his goalkeeper to sort out his transfer business quickly.
It is a situation which is worrying me and Julio is aware of that. It doesn’t matter whether he plays for a club in the third, fifth or tenth Division – that he plays is the important thing.”
Cesar’s future at QPR has been shrouded in doubt ever since the club’s relegation was confirmed and Arsenal have always been front runners. Arsene Wenger is keen to bring in an experienced goalkeeper to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski but has yet to make his interest concrete.
The Brazilian has declared his wish to remain in London giving Arsenal the best chance to sign him but was close to a loan move to Napoli before the Italians opted for Pepe Reina instead. Fiorentina have also dropped out of the race to sign him as Arsenal look to finally make their move.
Scorlari is only interested in Cesar if he is playing regularly, and a move to Arsenal may not guarantee that. Szczesny is currently the club’s number one but was dropped last season after a series of poor performances. Wenger wants to bring in a mentor for Szczesny and eyes Cesar as the perfect candidate but that could mean the Brazilian would have to share playing time with the Pole.
Robert Green has started in QPR’s opening two Championship fixtures with Cesar not included at all.
