Sochaux youngster Sebastien Corchia has admitted he knows of Arsenal’s interest in him. He confirmed that Arsenal have sent out scouts to watch the full-back in action with a view to a January move.
Corchia is very highly rated at the French club and has attracted interest from many top clubs across Europe. Arsene Wenger eyes him as Bacary Sagna’s long-term replacement with doubts still apparent over the 31-year old’s future. Current deputy right-back Carl Jenkinson is not yet ready to take over from Sagna.
The youngster spoke to French sports newspaper L’Equipe over Arsenal’s interest.
“I know what I have to do now during matches and I will see what happens in the next window.”
“[Leaving in the winter] could be a possibility and Sochaux will negotiate with interested clubs.”
Jenkinson has appeared in all five games for Arsenal this season and has amassed 54 appearances since joining the club in the summer of 2011. Although he has shown considerable development since his time at the club, Wenger still thinks he needs a year or two of developing further before he can compete for the regular right-back spot.
