ARSENAL would be scuppering their top-four chances if they let Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez leave.
Those are the thoughts of Gunners star Alex Iwobi.
Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are both out of contract at the end of the season and there appear to be no sign of them extending their deals.
Sanchez has been linked with a switch to Manchester City, and came close to joining over the summer, but Arsenal pulled the plug on a deal on deadline day when Thomas Lemar got cold feet over a transfer.
Whereas Ozil has found himself discussed with moves to Inter Milan and Manchester United in recent weeks.
Sanchez’s departure would hurt as he has been the club’s top scorer in two of the last three seasons since joining from Barcelona in 2014.
Iwobi has now publicly voiced the concerns of the dressing room over Sanchez and Ozil.
“When they are fit they are unstoppable. They are both capable of changing a game — or a season,” Iwobi told The Sun on Sunday.
“They have a big decision to make. But it would be a huge setback to lose them because from the stats you can see we do need them for their goals and assists.
“For a team like Arsenal, we need to be aiming for the top four and we need what they bring.”
Iwobi feels privileged to have played alongside Sanchez and Ozil, adding: “It will be great for them to stay. I’ve learnt a lot from them.
“Just the opportunity to even train with them has been amazing. They are two top-class players with great experience having played at the top level.”
