Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir after Barcelona ended their interest in signing the Lyon attacker, according to a report in the Mirror.
Arsene Wenger is expected to continue to overhaul his squad this summer after another disappointing campaign and although problems in defence and midfield need to be addressed, the boss is also looking to strengthen his attack.
Fekir has been touted as a target for some time and the Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Arsenal were hoping to secure a £45m deal to land the French international before he heads off to the World Cup finals.
It looked as though we were facing a stiff battle with Barcelona over Fekir’s signature after the Catalans were reportedly keen on luring the playmaker to the Nou Camp.
However, we’ve been handed a big boost as the Mirror are citing reports from Sport that claim Barca have now ended their interest in Fekir as Ernesto Valverde has prioritised the signing of Arthur instead.
The news will be welcomed in north London as Fekir would be a superb addition to the squad and our chances of signing him have increased significantly now that Barcelona are out of the race.
