Arsene Wenger is once again closing in on another Barcelona youngster, angering the Catalans in the process. Antonio Sanabria is highly regarded in the Spanish club but the Gunners are confident of a deal to lure him to the Gunners.
The Arsenal boss has made a habit of stealing Barcelona’s coveted youngsters with Cesc Fabregas the most known out of the signings. Hector Bellerin, Ignasi Miquel, Jon Toral are still in the youth ranks at the Gunners are making the switch from Barcelona to Arsenal while Arsenal were unable to hold on to Fran Merida after persuading the midfielder to leave Barcelona.
The Catalans have become incensed with Arsene Wenger’s continued approach to steal their talented young players. Rules in Spain state that players can’t sign a professional contract before the age of 17 giving English clubs a pick of the Spanish youngsters, if they can persuade them to make the switch.
Wenger upset the La Liga champions earlier in the summer by luring Juan Pleguezuelo, who has been dubbed the next Carles Puyol and he is back again to take Sanabria.
The Blaugrana are considering reporting the Gunners to FIFA for their persistent signing of the clubs youngsters, a decision they can’t control.
Arsenal have reason to have ill feeling towards the Catalans too with the Spanish club taking many of their established first team players. Record goal scorer Thierry Henry was signed for a mere £16 million before Cesc Fabregas moved back to his boyhood club. Moves for Aleksandr Hleb and Alex Song were also made.
The Gunners have been linked with a reunion for Fabregas but that is unlikely, especially if Arsenal complete a deal for 17-year-old Sanabria.
