Arsenal Set To Trigger Sevilla Midfielder’s Release Clause With 17 Million Pound Bid

If you the reports emanating from Spain this morning are anything to be believed, Arsenal are set to make a bid of 17 million pounds for France’s under 21 midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia which they hope will be good enough to activate the release clause of the Sevilla defensive midfielder.

Kondogbia who only signed for Sevilla last year in a 3 million pounds deal has caught the eyes of many high profile clubs with his impressive performance in the last one year. Real Madrid were thought to be the closest to sign the player before they signed Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad in deal believe to be worth £34m.

Monaco are also interested according to reports. The French club was said to have put in a bid of 13 million for the player which was rejected by Sevilla who are hell bent on ensuring they either keep the player or only sell to a club willing to match is 17 million pounds release clause. Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham are also said to be interested in the player which helps strength’s Sevilla’s position.

Arsenal are in the market for a new defensive midfielder as their current make shift defensive midfielder Arteta is out for the next 3 months with an injury.

  1. Suppose there were no injuries, would Arsenal sign new faces? Arsenal is deficient in the defensive midfielder, defender and a striker whether there are injuries or not! In addition, why can’t the team replace Arshavin, Chamack, Bendtner and whoever left the club? You can’t say you have THIN squad while you have cleared out players and yet you are not buying replacements even if average players!

  5. Wenger and the board are wasting our time. They are not going to buy any player and they sold the likes of arshavin, Bendtner and is this club runned? We need to know the direction we are going. I wll urge all gunners Fans to take heeart and prepare there minds for the worst this season. .. Perhaps they should bouycott all arsenal matches and leave the stadium to d board and Mr wenger alone.
