If you the reports emanating from Spain this morning are anything to be believed, Arsenal are set to make a bid of 17 million pounds for France’s under 21 midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia which they hope will be good enough to activate the release clause of the Sevilla defensive midfielder.
Kondogbia who only signed for Sevilla last year in a 3 million pounds deal has caught the eyes of many high profile clubs with his impressive performance in the last one year. Real Madrid were thought to be the closest to sign the player before they signed Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad in deal believe to be worth £34m.
Monaco are also interested according to reports. The French club was said to have put in a bid of 13 million for the player which was rejected by Sevilla who are hell bent on ensuring they either keep the player or only sell to a club willing to match is 17 million pounds release clause. Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham are also said to be interested in the player which helps strength’s Sevilla’s position.
