Real Madrid has entered the race for Stevan Jovetic, which has intensified the race for his signature.
Originally is was a two-horse race between Arsenal and Juventus until Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea inputted the Blue’s in to the race too. Now it seems Madrid have also expressed an interest in the player too.
After missing out on key targets Mario Gotze and Neymar Jr., Madrid are determined to land a big name star with Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani also on the Spanish giants radar.
Jovetic has stated he feels it is time for him to move away from Fiorentina and prefers a move to Juventus however the Serie A champions are unwilling to match the £25 million asking price, as are Arsenal. Chelsea and Real Madrid however are not worried by the valuation and therefore could move ahead in the race for his signature.
The Viola’s failure to qualify for the Champions League means they will struggle to keep hold of the Montenegro international, especially with all of the clubs interested in the forward managed to secure a place in Europe’s elite club competition, although Arsenal do face a qualifier.
The Gunners however have turned their focus to Madrid’s current striker Gonzalo Higuain, who has held talks with both the Gunners and Juventus. Higuain is a cheaper option than Jovetic and although he is older he is a more prolific goal scorer and could prove to be the better buy with Jovetic a direct replacement for the outgoing Argentine at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal have also been linked with Barcelona’s David Villa and Wayne Rooney of Manchester United.
