The Mirror reports that Arsenal are competing with Liverpool for the signing of MK Dons’ midfielder, Dele Alli. The 17 year old midfielder is expected to be the subject of a bidding war between the two English rivals, who sent scouts to watch him in the opening match of the season against Shrewsbury, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Dele Alli is expected to be loaned back to Dons by the club who finally gets him, in order for him to continue his development, with the first team.
Meanwhile, Luis Suarez has been left out of Liverpool’s squad for the match against Valarenga. The Liverpool striker has been left out due to a ‘foot injury’ and is expected to undergo a scan to determine the full extent of the injury, though it is highly unlikely that he will take part in Liverpool’s last friendly against the Scottish champions, Celtic.
Former Liverpool keeper, David James has urged Liverpool to sell Suarez so that it helps make them more ‘unpredictable’. He believes that last season all of Liverpool’s play went through Suarez, making it easy for other teams to stop Liverpool from playing, and he also stated that Liverpool have a better chance of finishing in the top four without Suarez, rather than with him.
