Goal.com are reporting that Arsenal are set to miss out on yet another target just hours after news broke that Arsenal’s £40 million bid for Liverpool striker was angrily turned down by Liverpool. Goal states that Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain has agreed a bumper deal with Italian giants Napoli. Apparently Napoli have agreed a transfer fee of £31.8 million with Madrid for the signature of the well sought after Argentine.
The deal was said to be stalling deal to issues with Higuain’s image rights but that issue is now sorted and Higuain is on his way to to Italy to finalize the deal. However, been a gunner and having seen many transfers that are reported as been done falling through, I personally believe Arsenal still have a chance of signing Higuain.
This is especially so as Marca a pro Real Madrid news paper were just yesterday reporting that Higuain prefers to move to Arsenal and is only waiting for the gunners to show their hands. Also, it should be noted that Arsenal already agreed terms with Higuain after getting permission from Madrid ( which means they also agreed fees with Madrid ) before Madrid upped their asking price.
It is even more interesting now as Arsenal’s other target Rooney and Suarez are looking unlikely. With the gunners frustrated by Liverpool in the pursuit of Suarez and Rooney preferring to move to Chelsea who are likely to offer him more money, I will not be surprise if Arsenal make a last minute attempt to hijack the move for Higuain.
