According to reports in the German media, Arsenal are back in for Bayern Leverkusen’s Lars Bender. Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Arsenal have had a bid of 19 million euros rejected for the highly rated German. It was believed then that Bayern Leverkusen will not consider selling the midfielder at any price.
However, if the reports from Germany are true, Arsenal still retain some hope of signing the midfielder and are prepared to put in a bid of 23 million ( 4 million more than they bid earlier ) which they believe will convince Bayern Leverkusen to sell the midfielder to Arsenal.
A little about the player
Lars Bender is a very versatile player. He can be useful as a DM a box to box midfielder and can play in the right side of the defense when necessary. He is well known for his high work rate an attribute that only Jack Wilshere seem to have at Arsenal at the moment. Although he is a tough tackler, he is also neat with his tackles and as such hardly gets on the ref’s book.
However, if he may not be too willing to join Arsenal if they do not make it into the group stage of the champions league as Bayern Leverkusen are already through to the group stage of the competition and Bender will certainly not want to leave a club in the champions league to play in the Europa league.
