BBC’s David Ornstein has claimed that he has spoken to senior figures at Arsenal, who have said that Arsenal are not going to bid as high as £50 million for Luis Suarez.
He was asked whether he thought Arsenal were going to bid £50 million for Suarez, to which he replied, “No, I don’t Mark. And that comes from speaking to senior sources at Arsenal yesterday who indicated they won’t go to £50m for Suarez.
That’s a direct result of the fact that they think they’ve done enough to get him as it is. They think they’ve triggered a clause in his contract, that despite it being disputed by Liverpool, will do enough to get him to the Emirates Stadium.
The key thing is that Liverpool think, no it wont””
This would hurt many Arsenal fans who are looking forward to seeing Luis Suarez in the Red and White this season. However, this transfer saga is going to be a long and protracted one, which could go on till the 2nd September.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has urged the club to sign some players. “If the club can target players who will improve the team they are going to be very welcome because that is what we want — a better team, better players to compete and win trophies,” said the lego-haired Spaniard.
“The club is working on that. It is in their hands and I am sure they are going to do it.”
