Arsenal are closely monitoring Marseille youngster Maxime Lopez and sent scouts to watch the midfielder at the weekend, according to reports.
Lopez has only broken into Marseille’s first-team this season, making five appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, but the 18-year-old is already being linked with a move to the Premier League.
The Sun suggest that Arsenal, as well as Liverpool, had scouts in the stand as Marseille hosted Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon.
Lopez, who is being compared ex-Gunner Samir Nasri, started in the goalless draw at the Orange Velodrome and the teenager greatly impressed for the French club.
After the game, his team-mate Florian Thauvin said: ‘He played a great match. It’s not a surprise for me. We know his qualities.
‘He’s a very good player and has a very bright future. He was able to show everyone the extent of his talents.’
