Calum Chambers have put pen to paper on a new and improved four-year deal – just nine months after signing a contract extension.
The 23-year-old defender joined Arsenal from Southampton for around £16m in 2014 but has failed to nail down a regular role in the starting XI.
He spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan with Middlesbrough and managed just 25 appearances in all competitions upon his return to the Emirates Stadium last term.
Despite Chambers’ struggles, Emery appears eager to give the former Saints man a chance to shine.
He posted on Twitter: “Delighted to have signed a new deal at @arsenal! I want to give my very best to this great club.
“Thanks to the new manger for showing faith in me and I’m looking forward to the big season ahead!
“I promise to repay the fans back for the support they’ve given me! #COYG”
The 6ft tall defender made 24 appearances for the club last season and has been handed a fresh contract ahead of the new campaign.
