Mathieu Flamini has praised the quality of the Arsenal squad on his return to North London. The Frenchman left the club five years ago to join AC Milan but completed a move back this summer on a free transfer.
The versatile midfielder made his second debut for the club replacing Jack Wilshere in the 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby. After the victory he spoke out about the quality present in the team as well as the team spirit that has been created.
“The quality is very high in this team and at this club. That is the most important thing, to have players of quality because that makes a difference.”
“The team spirit is also very good, and we saw on Sunday that everyone was helping each other on the pitch. That makes a difference in the big games.”
The squad is undoubtedly improved following the loan signing of Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano and the club record signing of Germany star Mesut Ozil. The trio have all joined the club after their disastrous start to the season with a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Since then, the club have turned their fortunes around, winning four consecutive games and qualifying for the Champions League group stages, which was a strong factor in Ozil’s switch from Real Madrid.
