French newspaper L’Equipe, who are usually very reliable when it comes to news relating to Arsenal and French players are now reporting Arsenal are the clear favorite to sign French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle United as PSG the other team interested in the midfielder have withdrawn their interest.
Arsenal had tabled an offer of 10 million pounds for the midfielder which was rejected by Newcastle. PSG who were thought to be ready to put in a bigger offer for the player are no longer keen on signing him after their star Marco Verrati agreed to a new long term contract with the French ligue 1 champions.
This makes the road clear for Arsene Wenger to sign the player should he decide he wants to further pursuit him. Newcastle have reportedly told the Arsenal manager that they will only listen to any offer of at least 20 million for the midfielder.
According to daily mirror’s John Cross, Arsenal are prepared to increase their 10 million pounds bid to 16 million. Arsenal are also interested in Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria.
