If you’ve been a fan of the Champions League, then you would’ve followed the progression of Borrusia Dortmund and how they almost pulled of a remarkable Champions League final victory.
One of the reasons Dortmund faired so well was due to the fact that young, German international, Ilkay Gundogan, directed and controlled the former Bundesliga champion’s midfield, with composure and a passing game second to none.
Gundogan boasts an average of over 86% when it come to completed passes and for only 22 years of age, he has already matured as though he’s been playing at the top level for ten years.
How can Arsenal go about securing the services of this midfield maestro? Stumping up around £15-£20 million would be a start. The chance to work under another technically superior manager in Arsene Wenger may also be a key factor.
If Wenger himself can see past Gundogan’s price tag, he would truly be a perfect fit for the North London side. Can you imagine Gundogan and Wilshere lining up in the centre of midfield?
Wenger obviously has an interest in the player, after several times declaring his admiration for the Dortmund number 8, during the Champions League final.
Speculation will be rife throughout the transfer period, with Arsenal seemed to be linked to any quality player. Arsenal fans everywhere will hope that this rumour, is in fact true.
Gundogan at Arsenal, could well be the missing piece of the Trophy puzzle.
