Former England international and Arsenal Legend Martin Keown has been talking up the quality of striker Oliver Giroud but revealed that Arsenal will complete the signing of a striker before the close of the window, per the Mirror.
Since joining Arsenal, Giroud is yet to score 20 Premier League goal per season and has come under staunch criticism from fans and pundit. Nonetheless, the French striker was very impressive at Euro 2016 Championship, scoring three goals and assisting in two.
Beginning this summer, Arsenal have been looking for a striker but have been unble to get one. Although, Keown believes Grioud has class but admit he cannot fire Arsenal to the title.
He told Starsport: “I think his stock grew in the Euros, he was one of the best strikers.
“Wenger will have drawn from that and it will give Giroud more belief.”
But Keown added: “Giroud is following in the footsteps of some very good Arsenal players. Robin van Persie, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and the fans want to see a striker like them.
“These days you need electric pace, power and goalscoring abilities and Giroud is a different type of striker.
“I do believe that Wenger will make a signing in that area before the window closes.”
Arsenal have seen bid for Aleksandre Lacazette rebuffed and have bee snubbed by Jamie Vardy but the search continues.
