Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has already written Arsenal out of the Premier League title race. The Argentine identified Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are bigger rivals to the trophy than the Gunners, despite Mesut Özil’s arrival on deadline day.
He mentioned rivals Manchester United as their closest rivals for the title with Chelsea behind them. Tottenham and Liverpool were them spoke of with no word on Arsenal. It’s no surprise to see United and Chelsea about the Gunners in the race for the title but to see Liverpool and Spurs named as favourites over Arsenal definitely is.
Liverpool have failed to make the top four since 2009 and although they have started the season exetremely well, there are plenty more games to be played for Liverpool to show their worth. Tottenham finished fifth last season and hope to break in to the top four after splashing over £100 million this summer. They lost out to Arsenal before the international break but once their squad has built chemistry, they could be a real force.
The Gunners could use Aguero’s snub as bait when they take on City, with a point to prove to the South American that they are more than a match for anyone in the Premier League. They suffered a shock opening day defeat to Aston Villa but have recovered well with four wins on the bounce. They sit level on points with Manchester City after the FA Cup finalists suffered an even bigger surprise loss away to Cardiff City.
