Arsenal have entered the race for controversial Italian striker Pablo Osvaldo. The striker’s fall-out with the club’s management has seen him linked with moves across Europe, with Arsenal the latest destination.
Southampton had a £15 million offer accepted for the striker yesterday but Arsenal are thought to be considering offering a similar bid to try and thwart the Saints progress with the striker. Fulham and Tottenham are also known admirers of Osvaldo.
The Gunners have been pursuing a deal for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez but that looks like a lost cause and other targets are being lined up. Arsene Wenger feels the lure of Champions League football will put them above Southampton in Osvaldo’s preferences.
His goal-scoring ability is obvious with a tally of 16 Serie A goals from 29 appearances but has been known for making a scene. His list of incidents can rival Suarez, which is impressive enough, and Roma have had enough and are willing to cash in on their goal machine.
Arsenal’s failure to make a contribution in the transfer market as of yet has put a lot of pressure on manager Arsene Wenger and he is now exploring a lot of different options as he looks to finally add some new quality to the team.
