If you believe Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, Barcelona do not have interest in signing Real Madrid and Arsenal target Iker Casillas even if he decides to leave Real Madrid. Casillas is apparently not happy with his bench warming role at Real Madrid and will be seeking to leave once the January transfer window opens.
Although Barcelona themselves are in the market for a new goal keeper as first choice keeper Victor Valdes has made it clear he will be leaving Nou camp at the end of the current season, Sandro Rosell has stated they will stand no chance of signing Iker Casillas just as Real Madrid will stand no chance of signing Xavi Hernandez from Barcelona.
He said: “Casillas is the icon of Madrid. Seeing him play for Barcelona would be like Real Madrid buying Xavi.” (Daily Express)
Arsenal are according to various reports monitoring the goal keeper’s situation with some reports claiming the Real Madrid man has set his mind on joining Arsenal in January should his situation at Real Madrid not improve for the better.
