Arsenal are reportedly clear to sign Paris Saint-Germain misfit Goncalo Guedes, according to reports emanating from Spain. The 21-year-old completed a move from Benfica to the Ligue 1 side last January but only made 13 appearances for PSG before being sent on loan to Valencia.
We understand the club are hopeful of landing Guedes and Arsene Wenger has reportedly been offered the chance to sign the Metro, £31million-rated midfielder. According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Spanish tabloid suggests the oil-backed Ligue 1 club are eager to sell Guedes when the window reopens in January as they are under Financial Fair Play pressure to sell following the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe from Barcelona and Monaco respectively. Valencia are also said to be keen on signing the young Portuguese on a permanent deal. He is out of contract at the Parc des Princes at the end of the 2017/18 season.
Last month, his father hinted that his son could stay on at Valencia for another year. He told RTP via Metro: ‘Any player likes to be at the best clubs and play in the best competitions ‘At Valencia, Goncalo just needs to play in the Champions League and there’s a good feeling about that.
‘He loves the city and the club, maybe he can stay another year. The performances are still good and we hope they will go even further. ‘At this moment I think it will be difficult to go back to Paris, because they have more evolved players and my son is still in his development phase.’
