Attentions have bow turned to the most prestigious football competition in Europe, the Uefa Champions League. A competition that would be boring without Arsenal in it.
Speaking ahead of our game against the Ligue One Champions, Arsene Wenger has provided update on his team.
Arsenal Captain Laurent Koscielny had a swollen eye in the Premier League game against Sothampton last weekend. Nonetheless, he made the trip to France and should be okay to play.
“He had a big knock to his face, I did fear that he might miss the game. Arsene Wenger said of Koscielny.
“but he is alright, he has recovered quite well.”
Bar initial concerns over Koscielny, there are no other fitness issues for Wenger to contend with but we expect him to tweak his team a bit by dropping some of the players that started last weekend’s Premier League game.
Giroud, Sanchez, Xhaka and Iwobi are expected to return to out starting XI as we look to kick off our Champions League campaign on a good note.
Last season, Wenger chose David Ospina in our Champions League opener but we paid dearly for it and he must have learnt his lesson.
