Arsenal not only reportedly want to hire Mikel Arteta as manager in the summer, they’re allegedly going up against Everton in order to do so.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal are planning to battle Everton to bring their form player on board as manager.
Although Sam Allardyce signed an 18-month deal when he took over from Ronald Koeman in November 2017, the Toffees’ fan base apparently isn’t convinced and the club could therefore look to replace him in the summer.
Arteta, who played at Everton from 2005-2011, is reportedly one of the people on their list to step in.
However, Arsenal are also allegedly looking at bringing in the 35-year-old, who’s currently Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager at Manchester City.
Despite the Spaniard having no experience at being head coach at a top football club, the Mirror insist that Wenger would back him to take over.
Although Arsenal fans love Arteta and are excited that they could see the former skipper in charge at their club one day, most of us recognise that this shouldn’t happen for a long time.
He was a brilliant servant to the club during the five years he was there (2011-2016) and it would be a dream come true to see him return. Just not yet…
Therefore, I find it hard to believe that Arsenal would be genuinely looking at him to succeed Wenger this summer.
