With Welbeck injured and out till at least March 2017, Arsenal surely could do with the signing of another striker and if reports in the media today is to be believed, the Wenger is keen to get a striker for us this summer and has made a £39.5 million opening bid for Juventus star Alvaro Morata.
According to the reports Wenger has been talking to Real Madrid in regards to the signing of Morata. This is after reports emerged that Real Madrid will be activating the buy back clause inserted in the contract of Morata when he was sold to Juventus in 2013.
Real Madrid are said to be ready to activate the clause which is put at £23.6m and then re-sell him to the highest bidder. However, Juventus are said to be ready to pay Real Madrid more money to keep the player at the Turin Stadium and remove the buy back clause.
However, in my opinion, Arsenal are better investing their money elsewhere. Morata has played 86 games for Juventus and scored only 22 goals in all competition and has only 14 assists. Giroud that many Arsenal fans expect to be replaced in the first team has played 95 games and scored 45 goals and created 10 assists which is way better than that of Morata.
Arsenal should be aiming to sign someone better than Giroud and not someone who will be second choice. Morata is no doubt a very talented player unfortunately he is not for Arsenal and certainly not worth £40 million.
