LIONEL MESSI has reportedly blocked Barcelona from offering Ousmane Dembele to Arsenal in exchange for Hector Bellerin.

The Spanish right-back started his career at the Spanish side’s academy but made the switch to the Gunners in 2011.

Bellerin has been criticised for his performances this year and has been linked with a move ever since clashing with popular supporters platform ‘Arsenal Fan TV’ last month.

Manager Arsene Wenger is under pressure to keep his job and the north London side are likely to have a squad makeover this summer.

Reports in Spain suggest that Arsenal are interested in Barca winger Ousmane Dembele, who has struggled to make an impact at the Nou Camp since recovering from a serious hamstring injury.

According to Don Balon, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu considered using Dembele as bait to tempt Bellerin back to La Liga.

But the report claims that Messi does not approve of the transfer and has stepped in to block it.

And the Argentine’s intervention leaves the 22-year-old free to move to Real Madrid, who are seeking competition for Dani Carvajal.

Arsenal are in danger of missing out on Champions League football for the second season running.

They got back to winning ways last night with a convincing Europa League win at AC Milan.

Wenger’s side are back in Premier League action on Sunday as they welcome Watford to the Emirates.
