Arsenal have been offered the Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez as the Spaniard looks to get some minutes under his belt away from the Camp Nou.
He’s been told, according to the Independent, that he can leave the club and his representatives have been busily looking for a way out for him. The Gunners are one club to have been sounded out over a potential £14m deal.
The 24-year-old has seemingly lost the favour of Ernesto Valverde this term and is likely to leave the club in January.
Unai Emery will know the player well; Suarez spent time on loan with Seville when the Spanish side was under his reign, while Suarez was trying to establish himself at Barcelona.
According to these reports, though, he may have seen his last chance to break through at Barcelona pass by him.
Arsenal may be in the market for a central midfield player, having seen the breakdown of contract talks with Aaron Ramsey and accepted that he will indeed leave the club this summer.
The Welshman is free to sign a pre-contractual deal with a foreign club this January and has confirmed that he intends to depart in June, leaving Emery’s midfield department a man short.
The emergence of the talented academy product Emile Smith-Rowe may cancel out the need for a direct replacement, though. The 18-year-old has been impressive in Europa League competition for the Gunners so far this term.
A native of Croydon, he’s scored three in six from midfield and may be able to step into the breach after the departure of Ramsey.
