Talented Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto will remain with the Italian club, at least for this year, according to reports.
As we previously reported, Jankto has been linked with the Gunners this summer, as well as a host of other top European clubs, such as Juventus, AS Roma, Inter Milan, PSG and Everton.
Now it seems that the player plans to turn them all down and remain at his current club for the time being, according to CalcioMercato.com. Although Arsenal are seemingly always on the lookout for young talent, at the moment it’s difficult to see where Jankto would fit in.
The Gunners only really have room to bring in guaranteed starters in central midfield. The North London club have plenty of squad options, including Mohamed Elneny, Francis Coquelin and Jack Wilshere, who have all seemed to decide to stay and fight for a place.
Jankto is still only 21-years-old, and has enjoyed a good season with Udinese, contributing to nine goals in his 29 appearances from the middle of the park.
He’s also made a strong start to his international career, with a goal in one of his first four appearances for the Czech Republic. If he can keep impressing for the club then there’s no reason why he couldn’t join Arsenal in a future window, given his age.
The player’s agent said earlier in the summer that Jakub “likes” Arsenal (via Gunnersphere), and that he could move to the club in the future. But for now it seems that a move is off for the highly rated Czech international.
