All terms agreed: Aubameyang to Arsenal is as good as done

Aubameyang, a 28-year-old Gabonese international, has developed into one of world football’s most in-demand stars over recent seasons.

Since joining Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013, the lightning-quick attacker has notched an incredible 98 goals in 143 Bundesliga appearances, doing a phenomenal job of filling the shoes left by Robert Lewandowski.

Unsurprisingly, ‘Auba’ has been linked with a host of European giants over the last few years, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG and Manchester City having all been touted as potential destinations during last summer’s transfer window.

The 56-time capped international has previously stated his desire to join Real Madrid, though he also warmed to the idea of a return to AC Milan (where he played early in his career) earlier this year.

‘Will certainly leave’

In a surprise update last month, though, both Aubameyang and Borussia Dortmund confirmed that the African hitman had extended his deal at the Westfalenstadion until 2021.

However, BVB sporting director Michael Zorc was quick to admit that:

‘One day, he (Auba) will certainly leave Borussia Dortmund.’

These quotes soon led to mounting speculation that Aubameyang had given his word to Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande regarding a transfer, despite renewed interest on behalf of both Arsenal and Chelsea.

And, in a further update this evening that did little to dampen rumours of an imminent exit from the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund confirmed across their social media platforms that Aubameyang had been omitted from their squad to take on Wolfsburg for ‘disciplinary reasons’:
