Arsenal now have no choice than to bolster the defense of the team to avoid capitulation as seen by the poor display of yesterday.
Latest reports according The Sun is in the claim that Arsenal have made enquiries over the availability of Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu.
With the number of goals we conceded yesterday and the injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista, Wenger is ready to splash some cash on a centre-back and it seems he is looking at the former France international.
The Sun goes onto say that Arsene Wenger wants to sign Mathieu as he won’t be very expensive and will be able to bring his vast experience to the team
However, Arsenal are not left alone in the chase of the player. The Express claims Liverpool are also interested in the 32-year-old.
The France international has made 75 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions since completing his move from Valencia back in the summer of 2014.
Mathieu, no doubt a good player, but he doesn’t fall into the definition of the type of player we need at Arsenal. A deal for Mustafi would make more sense.
