Alexis Sanchez may have to sit out Saturday’s game against Stoke City – but the Arsenal star is clearly working as hard as possible to return to full fitness.
The Chile international has not featured this season having suffered an abdominal injury soon after he returned from his extended summer break.
The injury saw him miss the Community Shield victory against Chelsea and the thrilling 4-3 success against Leicester City on the opening day of the new Premier League season.
Arsenal fans had hoped to have Sanchez back in time to face Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium tomorrow, but Arsene Wenger hinted that the trip to Anfield next weekend would be a more likely date for his return.
“For Sanchez it looks a bit early again,” said Wenger. “I think Saturday comes too soon but he should be available for Liverpool.
“His recovery is going very well but we have to be cautious. It’s a muscle strain and we don’t want to have any set back on that.”
Sanchez clearly is in no mood to take things easy, however, judging by his latest Instagram story which has been uploaded from Arsenal’s training ground.
The former Barcelona star – linked heavily with a move to Manchester City – is shown in a video having just finished what looks to have been a very vigorous workout.
Could he even be a surprise inclusion in the squad for Stoke? With Sanchez you could never rule it out.
