Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, according to reports.
Ozyakup looks set to leave Besiktas this summer, as he is reluctant to sign an extension to his contract which expires in June. The Turkish giants have tried to get the midfielder to commit his future to the club but he’s so far refused to do so.
According to Turkey based newspaper Aksam via Football.London, Wenger is desperate to sign Ozyakup in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on Ozyakup’s development over the years and have been impressed.
The report claims the Gunners have held talks with the midfielder over a possible move and are confident of completing a deal.
Ozyakup has reportedly got his head turned by Arsenal’s interest and iss even more desperate to leave Besiktas.
The midfielder was a part of Arsenal’s academy before he was sold to Besiktas in 2012 for £450,000.
Prior to the switch, he wasn’t able to make his Premier League debut. However, he has grown into a top player and an influential one for Besiktas, so it isn’t a surprise that Arsenal are being linked with him.
