Arsenal are set to be beaten in the race to sign highly rated Dutch starlet Riechedly Bazoer who is already a big player for the Ajax senior team at 19 and also made as much as 29 league appearances for the Dutch club last season.
Arsenal were first reported to be interested in his signing as the likes of Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky have left the club already. This has thus created a vacuum at the club although the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka at £30 million might have helped to fill a little. The Gunners were said to have sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch him in action last season which made the scout recommend him to the club.
Football Insider via the Daily Express has revealed that Argentine and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has personally watched the youngster in action when the Netherlands played Ireland in a friendly on Friday. The manager was said to be so impressed that he has sanctioned the bid to sign the youngster for Tottenham who finished third last season after running champions Leicester City close and thus qualified for the Champions League Group Stage in the process.
It is yet to be known who will sign the player between the two clubs or if the player would rather elect to stay back with Ajax next season but one thing is sure and that is that Arsenal clearly need to spend to match the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea next season.
