Arsenal are hopeful that Ramsey will be fit to return against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup semi final according to The Mirror.
Ramsey has been out of the team since boxing day and though his prognosis was supposed to be a few weeks, he’s now missed half of the season. Ramsey had a breakthrough season earlier and was probably the best player in the league before the injury stopped his remarkable run. His early season form has established him as one of the better midfielders in the world and established him as key player for Arsenal.
Two times he was on the verge of a comeback but two times he had setbacks in training thereby ensuring a prolonged stay on the side lines. He is still Arsenal’s second highest goal scorer despite not playing half of the season and this shows the kind of reliance that Arsenal have on him. In terms of importance he’s probably as important as record signing Mesut Ozil or Per Mertesacker to the current Arsenal team.
The team have struggled since his absence, something which was not common while he was still playing. Injuries to other key members hasn’t helped either. The likes of Jack Wilshere and Ozil are also injured and this has had an adverse effect on team.
Whether Ramsey is really returning or this is another false dawn remains to be seen. But it is imperative that he make a return sooner rather than later to ensure a strong finish to the season especially as Everton are now unfortunately a threat to our chances of finishing 4th and qualifying for the champions league qualifying stage.
