Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger believes a victory over the EPL defending champions would lay be a telling factor in his side’s hunt for their 1st EPL title since 2004.
The Gunners engage old foes, Manchester United at old Trafford on Sunday, with the Red Devils having to cover ground due to their slow start to the season.
Wenger’s side are fresh from their impressive away win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and the Arsenal boss admits the North London club faces arguably its biggest EPL test on Sunday.
“It is still one of the benchmarks of the season where you judge how strong you are,” said Wenger. “People analyse everything, your behaviour and draw conclusions after the game. It is of course still one of the big games.
“You can gain confidence and credit for your behaviour.
“We had periods where we did very well at Old Trafford and recently, yes, we have not done so well,” Wenger added. “It is a good opportunity to show that we have improved and that we can win there.
A win at Old Trafford for Arsenal would be a clear message to the EPL chasing pack that the Gunners are in the title race for the long haul, this term.
