If Arsenal must remain competitive in the League and Europe, then Arsene Wenger would have started preparing for the business of the next summer transfer market.
According to report, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that Arsenal and Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann will not move from the Vicente Calderon.
The 25-year-old has spoken glowingly about the Red Devils and the Premier League in the past and is a close friend of United midfielder Paul Pogba and Laurent Koscielny.
Diego Simeone added fuel to the fire last night when he admitted he was powerless to stop Griezmann leaving the Vicente Calderon but Cerezo insists the France international will remain at the club.
‘There are many offers,’ Cerezo said.
‘I don’t know what will come of Manchester United’s interest. What I can say though is that Griezmann will be an Atletico player for a long time.’
Mourinho stated earlier this month that he expected a quiet January transfer window because he would wait until this summer to invest in his side.
The 53-year-old spent around £150m on Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan during his first summer at the club and will be given significant funds to spend again at the end of the current campaign.
