West Ham United could sign Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin before the end of the January transfer window.
According to talkSPORT, Arsene Wenger is willing to let his combative midfielder leave the club this January, with the Hammers purported to be among the most interested clubs.
It is understood that David Moyes will table a £10 million bid for the midfielder in pursuit of balancing his lop-sided squad.
The re-emergence of Jack Wilshere at the heart of Arsenal midfielder has pushed Wenger to the side-lines. The Frenchman appears to prefer the combination of Wilshere and Granit Xhaka, and will likely place Aaron Ramsey ahead of Coquelin, when the Welshman return from his knee injury.
With his compatriot facing limited game time and West Ham needing a strong and tenacious midfielder to hold their defence, this deal with Arsenal seems to suit all involved.
Yet it does seem a tad strange that Wenger would want to part with one of only two defensively minded midfielders he has at the club – unless the French boss has his eyes on an alternative, should Xhaka, who is prone to making mistakes, too – bags an injury, he will have no experienced defensive midfielder in his ranks.
