The Calcio Insider is today reporting Arsenal are willing to pay £60 million to land Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso this transfer window.

Box-to-box midfielder

Tolisso began his career with Ligue 1 side, Lyon. He would work his way through their youth ranks before going onto make 160 appearances for the French side.

In those 160 appearances, Tolisso would score 29 and assist 17. The Frenchman is naturally a central midfielder. However, Tolisso is incredibly versatile.

Throughout his career Tolisso has played centre mid, centre defensive midfield, centre attacking midfield, left back, right back, right midfield, right wing and even secondary striker.

This shows what a talent the 23-year-old is as he has the ability to play so many positions.

Tolisso would then move to German Champions Bayern Munich in July of 2017 for a fee in the region of £37.5 million.

In his debut season, Tolisso has played 40 games for Bayern, scoring 10 and assisting seven, an excellent record for a centre midfielder, which shows how well he can get forward and influence a game, as well as get back and defend.

Arsenal’s midfield

Arsenal’s central midfield has had its problems for some years now. England and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is often sidelined through injury meaning Arsenal are often a man short in their midfield anyway.

Furthermore, Granit Xhaka, who signed for Arsenal for around £40 million, has proven to be somewhat of a flop.

Xhaka has looked awful in countless games this season for the Gunners and if they do wish to fight for a Champions League place this summer, they need someone a lot more consistent than Xhaka in the centre of the park.

Tolisso could very well be the man to strengthen what is, at the moment, an average Arsenal midfield.
