Arsenal and the other top Premier League clubs have taken their rivalry off the pitch and into the transfer market.
This report is according to the Metro,
Arsenal and Liverpool have made a ‘concrete’ approach for Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko who is wanted by Chelsea and Manchester United, according to reports in France.
The midfielder is the star attraction of a Monaco side just two points off Ligue 1 leaders Nice and is coveted by a host of top clubs across Europe.
Monaco, however, are desperate to hold onto their 22-year-old and are determined to keep Bakayoko at the club until at least the summer.
United were recently linked with a £40 million January bid for the youngster after fears grew that Chelsea were seriously considering a summer transfer.
But it now seems as though their Premier League rivals have stolen a march on their competitors with Le 10 Sport claiming Arsenal and Liverpool have made a ‘concrete’ approach to sign Bakayoko.
Arsenal and Liverpool have both made contact with Monaco with a view to a January transfer, but have been told by the French club that there is zero chance of signing the defensive midfielder this month.
Bakayoko has excelled in Monaco and has missed just five games this season, two of those due to a red card suspension.
Reports claim that Pep Guardiola is also interested in Bakayoko with the potential for a bidding war in the summer ever increasing.
Tottenham fans will remember Bakayoko from their Champions League campaign with the youngster playing in both fixtures against Spurs this season.
