Riyad Mahrez has promised to give his best to Leicester despite reiterating his desire to move clubs.

With the start of the Premier League season just five days away, it seems Riyad Mahrez is growing more resigned about his future at Leicester.

The Algerian has made it clear that he wants to leave Leicester and join a bigger club, but there’s been little activity and Leicester are not about to let him leave on the cheap.

Roma have perhaps come the closest to signing him, having had a bid rejected by Leicester earlier in the summer. Mahrez has once more stated his desire to leave Leicester, but has also promised to give his best to The Foxes should he end up staying.

“I know Roma came in, but nothing was accepted so there is little I can do,” Mahrez said, as reported by The Mirror.

“They are a great club who I would like to talk to but I can’t until Leicester accept a deal.

“Leicester know my thoughts, but I will continue to give my best for the club as I always have.

“Clearly it is flattering whenever you get linked with any big clubs but, as it stands, I have not talked to anyone as nobody has had a bid accepted but we nearly have a month left of the transfer window so we will see what happens.”

There is still time for Arsenal to follow through on their long standing interest and make a bid, but they seem to be busy trying to convince Monaco to sell them Thomas Lemar.

Roma, meanwhile, also seem to be looking else where now as they aren’t prepared to pay Leicester’s asking price.

Leicester kick-off their Premier League season against Arsenal next Friday, where Mahrez may be keen to show Arsenal and Arsene Wenger just what he’s capable of.
