David Ospina is set to join Fenerbahce for £3m after Arsenal came down on their original asking price.
Arsenal had asked for close to £5m for the Colombian shot-stopper, but Fenerbahce were able to negotiate for a lower price, according to Fanatik. Ospina will now join the Turkish side for £3m, having already agreed a four-year-contract.
The former OGC Nice ‘keeper is expected to return to London after this summer’s international fixtures before heading out to Istanbul to finalise the move. Fanatik claim the deal will be completed on June 17.
Ospina joined Arsenal in 2015 to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny. Despite starting ahead of the Polish keeper in the second half of the season, Arsenal went on to sign Petr Cech. In his three years at the club, Ospina has played 50 times.
Given he’s played in the FA Cup final and was a regular in the Champions League for Arsenal this season, his valuation seems extremely low. But Arsenal couldn’t get Fenerbahce to budge, despite the club boasting lucrative money for wages.
