ARSENAL star Francis Coquelin has ‘agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal’ with Valencia, according to reports in France.
Coquelin has made just one Premier League start under Arsene Wenger this term and now looks set to call time on his Arsenal career this month.
French publication RMC Sport claim the midfielder has been in talks with Valencia and has agreed a contract.
However, Arsenal still need to agree a fee for his transfer to go through this month.
Coquelin is under contract with Arsenal until 2021 but a lack of game time has caused him to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to West Ham in recent weeks with David Moyes eager to bolster his squad with fresh talent.
But the Hammers have been dealt a blow in their pursuit with Coquelin now on the verge of signing for Valencia.
RMC Sport claim the deal will be finalised within the next 24 hours.
It seems after Wenger opted to leave Coquelin out of the match day squad for Arsenal’s 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last week, he feels he has been left with no choice but to move on.
Coquelin has been with Arsenal since 2008 after joining from Stade Lavallois following a successful trial with the club.
The midfielder struggled in the early stages of his Emirates career that saw him loaned out to Lorient, Freiburg and Charlton.
But Coquelin did manage to rack up 105 league appearances over the years that also saw him win the FA Cup twice and the Community Shield.
