From the intensity of a Champions League evening in Paris that ended in a 1-1 draw, we returned to Premier League action at East Yorkshire last weekend, Once again the team selection stirred criticism and debate for Arsene Wenger within the hour ahead of kick-off. Francis Coquelin retained his place alongside Santi Cazorla, and the energetic Alexis was yet asked to occupy point man position up front.
As usual, the tremendous and passionate roar of the travelling Arsenal fans greeted the kick-off and Arsenal responded with their customary short passing game that saw the midfielders exuding more confidence around the opposition box. The first effort on goal came as the clock ticked past twelve minutes and Alexis scooped a Theo Walcott cross high over the bar.
Nonetheless, Arsenal have started training ahead of the trip to Nottingham, and plenty of youngsters and squad players were prominent in the pictures from the session. All the fit senior players will be handed their first start of the season, while we get to also see other youngsters.
While the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla were nowhere to be seen, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Gabriel, Chuba Akpom and Mathieu Debuchy were among those in action. We also think Lucas Perez will be thrown into action for his first start too.
This is how we think Arsenal will line-up vs Nottingham Forest.
