Arsenal will take a trip this Saturday to the KingPower Stadium to face the reigning Premier League Champions Leicester City but will be looking to remedy a poor start.
We were very disappointing last weekend when we hosting Liverpool but understandably, We had inexperienced centre-back fielded and you would argue that a Koscielny at the heart of defense would have made us conceded less goals than we did.
Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista were out of the game as they were banjaxed with injuries while Laurent Koscielny had an extended break because of this engagement at the Euro 2016 Championship and was short of fitness. Mesut Ozil and Oliver Giroud were also left out of action and Wenger revealed that it was a measure to avoid injuries as he wants to ease them into games.
Overall, the performance was dismal but Wenger is fingered as the culprit as much as you would say the players didn’t do well. He bought the players, know their quality, see them in training and selects them to play.
We were the only Premier League team that thumped Leicester City in both fixtures of the League, but they were also defeated in their League opener against Hull City. You can expect a game that will not be easy but we have the players that should be able to deliver the three points we desire.
Pressed again about the returns of Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil, Wenger admitted it would be something of a risk.
“It’s a bit early, I will have to take a gamble maybe, but I still have 48 hours to decide that. “If I have to gamble on one, it will be him [Koscielny].”
This means he has ruled out Mesut Ozil and Oliver Giroud out of the starting XI
