The interlull is well and truly over and it is certain that all the fans of Arsenal are looking forward to the debut of new signings Lucas Perez and Shodran Mustafi but the later is the most likely start. You can put your money on that.
Thankfully, all the players returned to the the club without injuries and we have a near-fully fit squad. Alex Iwobi also returned to training after recovering from a thigh injury while Aaron Ramsey reportedly had a setback and will not return as earlier stipulated.
Arsenal will host Southampton at the Emirates this Saturday and we cannot settle for anything less than three points as we are currently five points behind League leaders Manchester United.
We expect to see a little bit of tweak from the team that thumped Watford City.
Petr Cech is expected to retain his place in-between the sticks for Arsenal. We should all expect a clean sheet given the defenders we have.
Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin will retain their respective full back positions while Mustafi will have his debut along Koscielny. Our central defensive pair should have started building an understanding and a partnership that will ward off every offensive threats against us.
This is an area that we have the most depth in our squad. I expected a selection problem but Arsene Wenger knows better than all of us.
From the deep in midfield, Xhaka will be pulling the strings with his long passes and Cazorla will pair him as a creative anchor midfielder. The mesmeric Ozil will start behind the striker and we are sure to see an assist from him.
We have resorted to a 4-2-3-1 formation that looks like a 4-3-3 in order to accomondate most of our midfielder.
Despite Wenger’s praise for Sanchez as our striker, I think he will be moved to his left-wing position and Giroud will make his first start of the season. Walcott has been showing flashes of form of late and Wenger is expected to stick with him on the right flank.
The debate about where Lucas Perez will play continues but he will fit in more for us on the right flank.
