Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have reportedly upped their interest in defenderr Daniele Rugani after tabling a £25m bid to Serie A side Juventus, as the Arsenal boss continue in his chase this summer to sign a defender to partner Koscielny next season, according to Calciomercato.
The Arsenal manger had earlier secured the services of Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka and the French tactician is reportedly hell bent to sign a world class forward, but it looks like another defender is also on top of Wenger’s wish list.
Lot of top defenders across Europe, including top Serie A defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been linked with a move to Arsenal, but according to Italian outfit Calciomercato, interest from Premier league clubs like Everton and London club Chelsea have made his price-tag shoot up to about £40m, which has made the Arsenal boss turn to Rugani instead.
Young Rugani, 21, has since been monitored by the Gunners, and Calciomercato says the Emirate club has now upped their interest by submitting a formal offer of £25m to Juventus.
Regular football is guaranteed for the youngster should he eventually join the Emirate club, as the North London club seeks a long-term replacement for ageing Germany international defender Per Mertesacker and a solid partner for the reliable French international defender Laurent Koscielny.
